Philosophical Perspectives with a Spin
Sat., July 25, 2009, we will gather for our Dialog with Peter filming. Start time is 1 PM and we go for an hour or so. The topic will center around the Re-Storation Project and more specifically the Happy-ing Vibe, which was introduced at our Dialog 2 weeks ago. Join us in person if you’ll be in or near Austin, TX, and if that’s not possible, join us in Spirit. The video of our discussion should be up-loaded next week.
Summary of the July 11, 2009 Dialog.
Several things marked Saturday’s Dialog as fun for me. There was the new word to add to the ever-expanding “Peterexicon”…’HAPPY-ING” defined as “The rhythmic, vibrational harmonic –the single most, indivisible, functioning rhythm, beat, sound of the self.” Often disguised as an external-to-us DESIRE to find “happiness” – however we may define that, it is actually a part of the “music of our DNA,” clearly internal-to-us.
So what is it we are really seeking when we say we want to be happy? Peter says it’s the rhythm or sound or vibration that characterizes our most elemental selves…our “Happying.” We will be exploring in future Dialogs the rather extensive use of this concept in our lives.
Remember Ally McBeal – the old TV show? There was one episode that centered on the casts’ finding their “theme song.” That’s what I thought of when the Happy-ing idea was introduced. What if we are all connected to and guided by some cosmic “beat” that we can… not only identify…but can employ in our lives? Gee! We all have a theme song!…and then some!
Not only did we learn a new word (Happy-ing), we also practiced gathering the tools and toys to use in our quest for Restoring ourselves. In the early part of the evening, we were invited to a very large warehouse where we gathered “implements” – a tool in our dominant hand, and a toy in our non-dominant hand. Then we shared what we had picked up.
The journey Sat. night was outstanding. Check back occasionally in the Video section for this one! Our next venture into this topic will be at our filming July 25, the Mayan Day Out of Time. I’m sure there is no co-incidence in that either!
Feel free to add your experiences of the evening in the Comments section in Kay’s Musings.
Peter’s new series, YOU: THE ULTIMATE RESTORATION PROJECT began at our filming on June 27 and was brought home to me personally on Independence Day.
It is a subject Jan and I have been curious about what with the “restoration project” we have undertaken with our house for over a year now. As the floors, walls, ceilings… even the under-the-slab world…are being forever changed, we are experiencing the marvelous flow of CHANGE –CHANGE INSIDE and OUTSIDE TIME. And the neat thing is, the restoring isn’t focused on an “outcome.” We thought it was, in the beginning. Now, we realize it’s totally about pushing open the limitations of “outcomes” and basking in the light of Unlimited Possibilities. (Listen to the meditation at the end of the June film and you’ll get to play with the “light.”)
So, on the 4th of July, I lost my balance while walking over a part of the floor under construction and fell down in a heap! I kept remembering that old TV commercial where the lady falls and says, “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” And you know what? That really happens! (Note to Self: Henceforth, forget confirming old TV commercials!) Fortunately, Jan was in the house and rushed to my aid. I did an internal check, decided nothing was broken, and resigned myself to a few days of bruising and soreness even with the arnica which I began using right away. (By the way, the arnica has done a great job in keeping the bruises a nice black and blue color which goes well with my white hair. Sometimes these marks can be a purple-green which would definitely clash.)
By today, I am amazed at how much less discomfort there is than I thought there would be! So, I began to reflect on the event to see what gems I have taken away from this micro- experience in the over-all “Restoration Project” of me/us/house. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far…
1. To have any experience become a restoring one, RELAX! As I was moving toward the floor, I decided to release, let go of my need to “control.” I know that choice made a big difference in what unfolded.
2. To have any experience become a restoring one, PUT ASIDE ANY FEAR OF UNCERTAINTY. As I began to feel the floor beneath me, I started to entertain fear…fear that I was seriously hurt…fear that I would be unable to have my mobility back…fear that I would die if I could not get up (they say that about horses, you know). Then I began to laugh. The thoughts were entertaining but so far from “who I am” not even I could sustain that illusion!
3. To have any experience become a restoring one, EMPLOY IMAGINATION AND IGNORE CAUSE-AND- EFFECT. Use the event pieces like puzzle pieces…forming many different “pictures”… many possibilities. The gateway to the Infinite Field is through our Imagination!
4. To have any experience become a restoring one, WASTE NOT A MINUTE FOCUSED ON AN OUTCOME! In the broader scheme of things, all Outcomes are possible. In some way, we partake of them all.
I’m sure these are not all I will take away from this “Restoring Experience.” And…I am requesting that my next experience involve resting in a hammock on some lush tropical island. “There is always MORE!”
